Battalgazi School Project

After meeting with teachers from Malatya during Space Camp Izmir, Friends of Anatolia has decided to give one mini grant to Battalgazi Elementary School in this province in 2006.

The Town

Battalgazi (a.k.a. Eskimalatya) is a town within the Malatya province of Turkey. The city is once the ancient city of Melitene with a vast history going back to 2000 B.C. Cold winters and hot summers summarizes the climate of the region. Battalgazi's population is over 28,000.

The School

Battalgazi Elementary is a boarding school serving the students in Battalgazi and Malatya region, in general.

The Project

The school building needs new bathrooms and showers for the students. The mini grant of Friends of Anatolia will be used to rebuild the bathroom showers and to install solar heated water system.
