9th Annual Turkish Arts & Culture Festival

As a part of its mission of fostering cultural exchange, Friends of Anatolia opened a booth at the 9th Turkish Arts & Culture Festival, which was organized by the Monterey chapter of TAAC on August 5 and 6, 2006.

As a generous offer, we were provided a free booth by the organizers of this nice event. It was a day full of Turkish food, music, ethnic dances, and other fun stuff. As one of the five annual Turkish festivals in the U.S., TAAC's Monterey Festival is not only a big opportunity to represent Anatolian culture, but also an agora for the outstanding figures of Turkish American Community in California.

Four members of our team, our treasurer Nathaniel Chittenden, one of our newest volunteers Arzu Ozbek, our VP Tugsan Topcuoglu, and president Demet Yezgi attended the event to present the organization and our projects.

We have distributed our calendars, magnets, and other promotional materials, talked to the visitors about our mission and projects, raised funds, and most of all, had lots of fun and tasted delicious Turkish food.

A brief report of attendance, contacts made and the funds raised will be posted on this page, with more photos from this events. Please check back soon.

You can also visit www.turkfestca.org to learn more about this wonderful event.

A special thank to the organizers of the festival who made us feel welcome and gave their support to our cause.
