Ibrahim BETIL:
Ibrahim is a businessman who has worked in the industrial
and financial sectors in Turkey for 35 years as a high-level
manager, executive officer, board director, and consultant.
He currently chairs the Community Volunteers Foundation (Toplum
Gonulluleri Vakfi) in Turkey.
Ibrahim graduated from Robert College in Istanbul with an
Associate Degree in Business Administration in 1968. He first
started his career as a project specialist at Turkish Industrial
Development Bank (TSKB) and worked as an industrialist until
1981. He then shifted into banking sector and held CEO positions
for Pamukbank, Iktisat Bankasi, and Garanti Bankasi. He was
also the co-founder and Board president of Korfezbank, United
Garanti Bank, and Bank Ekspress.
He joined the ranks of “Yeni Demokrasi Hareketi” (New
Democracy Movement) as a co-founder and was actively involved
in politics for a year in 1994.
Ibrahim has always been closely involved in educational
purposes and community activities. He has been devoting all
of his time and energy for nonprofit organizations for the
last eleven years. He has helped establish and has chaired
several foundations and school boards including Turkish Education
Volunteers Foundation (TEGV), Community Volunteers Foundation
(TOG) and ENKA Schools in Istanbul and Adapazari. He also
taught classes in nonprofit management at universities.
He has been working as a columnist in daily
newspapers where he writes on economics, social life, and
education. He also
produces radio and TV programs on children songs and economics,
respectively. He is also the author of a bestseller book “Hafiften
Bankacilik”.
